Received this 3 days ago with Mech Tek 2.1. The blade is very well finished. Handle is smooth and just the right size for my medium size hands. I noticed additional sanding on the wings. This blade has the best edge tape I’ve ever seen. It is a thick foam cushioned tape that covers the foam part of the rubber too. The quality of the whole package is very impressive. The assembled bat with the rubber is very well balanced. Not too light or heavy. I compared the Zen to the IM8 Hinoki and the IM7 Graphite, all with Mech Tek 2.1 rubber.
The Zen feels thinner and had more flex. The Zen had more ball feel and much more control. It does have less power but that’s expected. All gambler bats I tried let’s me know when my technique was wrong and help me improve my shots, however the Zen does this better than the above more powerful models.
I also had a Palio Expert 3 before I had Gambler bats. Compare to the Gambler bats the Palio had a rougher handle and less sanded wing edges. The Palio was head heavy and surprisingly powerful for a beginner bat. I had trouble controlling my shots with the Palio. Sports equipments are personal but I prefer the Gambler bats for my game. I am very pleased with Gambler’s quality and customer service and will continue to buy table Tennis equipment from them.
