Table tennis grip is generated in 2 ways

Sticky/Tacky grabs the ball much like tape, in many cases you can actually hold the ball upside down on the bat. Many novice players mistake this stickiness for lack of power or speed, since the ball when using a low hand speed will feel ponderous leaving the bat, especially if the rubber is fresh and not yet past a break in period of around 4 hours. Modern Sticky/Tacky rubbers all use a combination of Sticky/Tacky and Mechanical.

Mechanical rubbers use grip exclusively to generate spin. Much like taking a pair of court shoes onto a basketball court, that squeak you hear when you scuff your shoe is very similar to the mechanical grip generated by table tennis rubbers. Mechanical rubbers tend to perform better “out of the box” and do not require a break in period. If you’re looking for a “bouncy” rubber with high rebound, mechanical grip is what you are looking for.

What type should you choose?

Keep in mind if you are changing from a mechanical type to a sticky type or vice versa you will need to change your racket angle, hand speed and possibly the distance you play from the table. As a general rule Sticky/Tacky has some superior close to the table attacking abilities and Mechanical has characteristics that make it perform better for away from the table attack.

Yes! We will professionally assemble any order of a blade and 2 rubbers for you for free, and you will receive your new bat complete with edge tape and ready to play. Just let us know you would like assembly in the customer notes when you check out – if you have more than one paddle you would like assembled, be sure to specify what rubbers belong on what blade.

Because we are the manufacturer and factory owner of Gambler brand products, this is the only brand we carry.

Our payment processor, USAePay, only accepts cards from the US. If you are an international customer and would like to pay via credit card, please select the PayPal payment option, and you should be able to use your credit card with their processing.

Gambler Table Tennis Limited Warranty

• Gambler TT guarantees the original purchaser with 30 DAYS free parts and labor in the unlikely event of any product defect caused by material or workmanship.
• The product should be returned with proof of purchase and the original packaging.
• The returned product should be freight prepaid and fully insured for one way transit by the Purchaser within the valid warranty period.
• The product will be repaired, replaced, or refunded at Gambler TT’s discretion.
• The Purchaser will be notified by telephone or e-mail.

No Warranty on the Following:

• Used Rubber
• Equipment with physical damage due to mishandling or abuse
• Wear from normal play
• Used balls
• Custom bats or other products made to the customer’s specifications.
